Centre of Information Technologies of Education
Centre of Information Technologies in Education is educational institution, public entity, whose implementing body of the rights of ownership and obligations is Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania.
Work of the Centre was started 1990 October 31, under the name “Centre of Informatics and forecasting”.
1999 August 31, by the order of Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania “Centre of Informatics and forecasting” was reorganized into “Centre of Information Technologies in Education“.
Present full name – Centre of Information Technologies in Education (Švietimo informacinių technologijų centras).
Under the regulations Centre of Information Technologies in Education has the following tasks:
- To organize and coordinate the development and training of pedagogical and other educational institutions and organizations employees‘ ICT field skills;
- To organize the development of strategy and program of the ICT implementation in educational system and coordinate the process of implementation;
- To collect, store and centralize the information on the system of Lithuanian education and science, and implement the data analysis of IT in education;
- To inculcate, develop and administer educational data bases, registers and information systems and coordinate the use of it.
